NORTHBOROUGH

Daphne J. Schuler of 76 Northgate Rd. died peacefully Friday, October 26th surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 47 years, William C. Schuler and a brother Claude R. Hodges. She leaves behind a brother Stanley H. Hodges of Wellesley, a son, Gregory Schuler and his husband Andrew Sawayama of San Francisco, CA; 5 daughters, Andrea Decourcy and husband Michael of Boylston; Gail Schuler and partner Jon Harp of Northborough; Laura Garceau and husband Rick of Clinton; Deborah Travers and husband John of Sterling; Valerie Morkert and fiancé Kevin Sheehan of Northborough; and 5 grandchildren Erica, Kayla, Alex, Autumn and Rachel.
Born in Hawkinge, England daughter of the late Robert and Marie Hodges, Daphne graduated from Westwood High School and attended secretarial school in Boston. Married in 1962, she moved to Northborough with William in 1963 to raise their family. Much of her life was spent as a devoted wife and mother and later worked as an aide in several local nursing homes. She also volunteered at the Northborough Senior Center. Daphne had been a member of Trinity Church and later attended St. Rose of Lima Parish of Northborough where she actively participated in various church functions such as the Mistletoe Mart and annual church fair. She loved music and enjoyed singing with both the Assabet Valley Master Singers and The Northborough Area Community Chorus with Bill.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, October 29 at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Northborough. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 30 at 10:00a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St. in Northborough followed by a burial at the Howard St. Cemetery.
